Drivers who are notified their licence is to be suspended due to excessive demerit points may be eligible to choose to elect to be of good behaviour for 12 months and keep their licence. Making an election is voluntary however if you accrue two or more demerit points in the good behaviour period then the original suspension will be re-imposed for twice the original period.
What you need to use this service
To use this service you will need the following items:
- The demerit point Notice of Suspension which says you are eligible to elect good behaviour.
- Your driver licence.
Time Limits
You must make your election before the date that your suspension is due to start (see your Notice of Suspension letter).
If there are less than 2 business days left before your suspension is due to begin then you will need to make your election in person by visiting a Service NSW service centre or motor registry or by telephoning 1300 360 782.
Driver Knowledge Test
If you have been notified that you are required to pass a driver knowledge test then your licence will be suspended until you pass that test too.
