Transferring registration is easy

Transfer your rego in three easy steps:

  1. Please ensure a Notice of Disposal for the vehicle has been recorded with Roads and Maritime Services.
Please note: You can not transfer a registration online unless Roads and Maritime Services has a Notice of Disposal recorded for the vehicle. It is the seller's responsibility to lodge the Notice of Disposal.
A surcharge will be applied to customers who fail to transfer the registration within 14 days from the date of acquisition online or at a registry as per the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation - Reg 34.

Changed your registration term?

PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 7 DAYS for a new registration certificate and label (if required) to be mailed to you. Alternatively, a free replacement label can be obtained from any registry. If your vehicle requires a label a current label with the correct expiry date must be affixed to your vehicle. The green slip 'use by' date for Short Term Registration renewal for light vehicles is 21 days after the registration expiry date. Renewals made more than 21 days after expiry can only be for 12 months, and a 12-month green slip is required. If you have any questions regarding the 'use by' date of your green slip, contact your CTP insurer.

Note: From 1 January 2013, registration stickers are no longer required for light vehicles (including motorcycles and trailers) up to 4.5 tonnes. See no more rego stickers for light vehicles for more information.
